Abstract

This study aims to see how ovaprim and pituitary hormones affect catfish larvae's spawning latency duration, fertility, egg hatching period, degree of hatching eggs, and survival rate. The study employed a randomized design with three treatments and four replications: natural spawning, ovaprim hormone usage, and pituitary gland. Each treatment consisted of one pair of developed gonad-bearing broodstock. The ovaprim hormone injection spawning treatment had the shortest spawning latency duration of 8 hours, followed by the pituitary gland injection at 9.25 hours and spontaneous spawning at 10 hours. The ovaprim hormone injection treatment generated 6,542 eggs, the pituitary produced 6,292.75 eggs, and the natural produced 4,862.25 eggs. The ovaprim hormone injection treatment resulted in a hatching period of 23.27 hours and a degree of hatching eggs of 91.01 %, a pituitary gland injection resulted in a hatching period of 23.25 hours and 82.89 %, and a spawning experience resulted in a hatching period of 28.25 hours and 74.75 %. The survival rates of larvae after ovaprim, pituitary, and natural hormone injections were 94.57 %, 90.91 %, and 90.49 %, correspondingly. The findings of spawning treatment with synthetic hormone and pituitary carp extract showed that it impacted spawning latency, fecundity, hatching time, and egg hatching percentage, but did not affect catfish larvae survival (p<0.05).
