Abstract

The Center for Marine and Fisheries Technology Development (BPTKP) produces consumption fish, one of which is catfish (Clarias gariepinus). This fish is the fish that most  demand by buyers and fish cultivators so that the demand for this fish is quite high. The obstacles that are often faced in aquaculture are parasitic attacks, especially ectoparasites which can lead to a decrease in the level of aquaculture production. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of ectoparasites and the prevalence rate of ectoparasites that attack catfish juvenile in BPTKP Cangkringan, Sleman. The method used in this research is the description method, while the sample used in this study is catfish juvenile measuring 4-6 cm. Examination of ectoparasites on catfish juvenile was carried out in two ways, first, taking the mucus and placing it on an object glass and then observing it under a microscope and in the second way, cutting the gills and grinding them with a mortar and pestle and then placing it on the object glass and then observed under a microscope. The results of this study indicate that the types of ectoparasites that attack catfish juvenile in BPTKP Cangkringan, Sleman are Dactylogyrus sp and Ichthyophthirius multifilis.
